The family spent the February vacation skiing in Quebec, and the summer vacation touring the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. Very Canadian of us, eh?
Mount Tremblant still had their Christmas displays up outside our hotel window. We were able to capture ole’ Saint Nick and his sleigh flying by. The picture of Becky sleeping was also from Mt Tremblant, and it seemed to be fitting to have her dream of Santa for our 2001 card.
Of course after the summer fun, we were all shocked with the events of 9/11. Not really knowing how to handle this in an appropriate way, we tried our best. The caption inside read:
“The innocent dreams of youth seem somehow distant this year. Yet the advent season is about hope and looking forward to new beginnings.
We wish for peace and prosperity for our country, friends, and families.”
On the technical side, this card was produced very differently than all the others. It was a composite assembled in Photoshop, but the production was through a new service called ofoto from Kodak. The website allowed you to upload your photos and order prints and other items with your photos on them. One alternative was custom-created cards, something we jumped right on to. Now the quality of the card was more about the photo than the printer, something we would continue to build on.
