This card was fun to create…maybe not the fanciest or most dramatic, but fun.
It was right on the cusp of the new millennium. Everything was pretty exciting that year, anticipating great changes with coming with the year “Y2K.”
There were changes in our technology profile as well. As indicated by the updated Mac icon on the back of the card, we upgraded to an iMac DV. It featured a built-in DVD drive, USB connections, and a Firewire IEEE 1894 connection for digital camcorders. We still had our analog camcorder, but who knows…maybe Santa would help out?
We also had bought our first digital still camera earlier that year, a Kodak DC 3400 with 2 megapixels. It was used to take the pictures of each family member. These images were then manipulated in Photoshop Elements. Clip art was used again to dress things up, and then the whole thing assembled in PowerPoint.
The new iMac came with an HP 970 inkjet printer that could print color photos and two sided documents. The annual Christmas note was transformed into the “Gazatte” and the layout created with MS Word. It featured humorous stories and photos from the year. This style would last for several years.
